Naceur working in his office

Overview:

Naceur Malouch is an associate professor at the University of Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI) since 2003. He works with the group of Serge Fdida: Networks and Performance Analysis at LIP6. He received the Ph.D. in computer science (networks) from the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, France in January 2003. During his ph.d studies, he was with the MISTRAL group at INRIA Sophia-Antipolis. He obtained his engineering diplomat in computer science from the "Ecole Nationale des Sciences de l'Informatique" (ENSI), University of Tunis II in June 1998. In the same year, he was awarded the national prize of computer engineering from the tunisian president. From 2002 to 2003, he was assistant professor at the "Ecole Supérieure en Sciences Informatiques" (ESSI), University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis. His research interests are in the area of transport protocols, overlay multicast, low complexity high scalability Quality of Service and performance over wireless networks. Currently, he has been working on WiFi/WiMAX Mesh networks, Multihop Cognitive networks, and Mobile Social networks. Doctor Malouch was a cooperative student visitor at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center from June to August 2001. Naceur Malouch is also a reviewer in many international journals and conferences such as ICC, COMNET, COMCOM, ToC, ToN and INFOCOM.

Internet of the future

Currently, the slate of the Internet and more generally data networks is a mixture of simple mechanisms such as "forward-and-forget", and complex heavy mechanisms such as BGP, adaptation gateways, peering and traffic control. The question is then can we move to a "clean-slate" Internet? Is it necessary to go through a new design paradigm or is it better to improve the current Internet in order to alleviate the current complexity that prevents reaching better performances? Maybe should we keep in mind a target clean slate Internet of the future while continuing improving the current Internet, so that the transition if it happens would be practicable.
